Vintage Bottle Flower Vases { Perfect Table Centerpieces }

posted by Katherine on July 5, 2011

My wonderful fiancé and I are tying the knot next fall and I am constantly on the lookout for the perfect unique touch to help make our wedding day extra special. I've come to find it's often the little things that people remember... and it's the fine details that help those memories fall into place, such as the natural charm of vintage bottles that I am so inspired by.

Vintage bottles come in many colors making for a colorful and intriguing display. The most valued colors, I've come to discover, are yellow and olive greens, cobalt blue, teal blue, purple, and (my personal favorite) clear. Some are fond of the earliest forms of American glass which is likely to be black glass. The black color of the bottle was most advantageous because it helped protect its contents from going bad. The word “black” also can be used to describe dark amber and olive-amber colors (vintagebottles.org).

With such a variety of shapes and colors to look for, it can be a treasure hunt looking for the old bottles in a flea market, thrift shops and auctions. Some people may be lucky enough to have vintage bottles already in their home among their old collections of stuff, such as the collections of old treasures that gathers dust in attics. You might try looking around other areas of your home, such as the kitchen, laundry room and garage to see if there are any old bottles there. I personally feel the more mismatched the collection, the better.

Bottles can be adorned with personalized logos, such as 'elixirs' or 'love potions', or top them sweetly with your favorite flower or greenery. The rustic, chic, and charming feel of the bottles will bring comfort and joyous smiles to your guests... and they make for spectacular background scenery for your wedding photographs... and they look especially darling in a barn type setting!

This savvy couple used their bottles to compliment their sweetheart table, along with a french inspired clock and french piano graphics (in the background). The complimentary use of vintage bottles are endless, each one providing a unique touch to any aspect of your wedding, shower, or any other of life's celebrations. Time for me to start collecting!
