Engagement photos are a great way to set the tone for your wedding or showcase the love that you have together. It's important to have engagement photos that will stand the test of time & that you won't regret in a few years. You want your engagement pictures to be a representation of you & your style. We put together a few tips to remember before you take your engagement pictures.
1. Bring more than one outfit - It's easy to think that you look best in black in person, but it's not always the same in photos! Bring 2-3 totally different outfits to change into so that you can choose which ones you like the best once your photographer sends you the proofs.
2. Use your wedding photographer if possible - Even though many couples don't know who their wedding photographer will be until much later in the planning process, make sure you really love the photographers work so that its an option to use them for both the engagement & wedding photos. It keeps the photos similar in style and will make them flow easily when they are displayed.
3. Get your hair and makeup professionally done - Lot's of brides want to save some money and do their own hair and makeup for their engagement photos. Although its a good idea in theory, most brides end up regretting that. You want to look your best in the photos so its best to leave that to the professionals. It's also important to remember that these photos could be in your save the date cards & displayed at your wedding, so it will be well worth the money spent.
4. Incorporate your style - One big way to ensure that you are happy with your photos is by incorporating your style into the shoot. If you love books, take your pictures at a library...if you love food, take your pictures at your favorite restaurant. It's easy to get sucked into wedding trends during your planning process but it's important to stay true to yourself.
